This is a good resource to have for a trip to Florence that is limited in time. Maps are contained that can be removed from a sleeve. I have bought several of the Eyewitness Top Ten guides, as well as the full guides. The Top Ten is a smaller guide but is chock-filled with info on various neighborhoods, highlights of the best things to see, maps, hotels, restaurants, shopping, and historic information.

I have purchased several other the Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guides, and have been quite pleased with the content given the small size of the book. I do not use or recommend the Top 10 books as a sole planning guide for an extended visit to an area, but rely on them for their portability.Before this week-long visit to Florence, I checked out a variety of travel guides from my local library to help plan my visit, visited numerous web sites, and purchased this guide to take with me. I found this book to be very helpful with the major sites, such as our visit to the Uffizi Gallery.Generally, I do not follow the dining recommendations in travel guides, but I did visit a recommended wine bar (Le Volpi E L-Uva) near our apartment and it was excellent. In the future, I'll pay more attention to that type of content, as well.

Not updated. We went in 2018 and used the 2017 version. Seems unlikely that so many items (1 out of 4 on average) would have gone out of business that quickly, so I am suspicious about whether DK actually updates it on the cadence they claim. Not recommended.

Great book, especially since the Tuscan region is quite large. It has the top 10 throughout the region and then a separate section for top 10 lists of everything: top 10 churches in Florence, museums, hill towns, villas and gardens, wine houses, and much more. No, this should not be your ONLY resource for Tuscany (I would recommend Frommer's Florence and Tuscany day by day), but this is great for narrowing your focus. As other reviewers mentioned, the maps were a little on the small side but I could still follow them so it wasn't a big deal. Typically, I don't depend on a book for a map anyway.

We liked this guide book because it had almost everything. Our only complaint was that it was not as well laid out as it could have been. We often had to stop, sit down, and try to figure out what we were looking at. This book was, however, much better than the "Rome" version!

I always use the TOP 10 book to whichever city I go. I love how they lay out the top 10 things for all aspects with very concise and useful information. It's quick and easy to plan trips this way. If you compare to the other books in the store, the Top 10 lists for all aspects (including top 10 spots to visit, or top 10 lists for music lovers, entertainments, hip places, shopping, historical sites...etc) are actually pretty good selections! PLUS, if you need more information, you can always check out online to learn more about certain things that you're interested in.The benefits of using their books are A) the concise and useful info, and B)it's very light weight and thin, so you can carry it while travelling c)their map are up-to-date and very easy to use, too!The only down side is that not enough information about the history of certain spots or stories behind it, but I guess it's a functional tool instead of a history book. =)

Sometimes too much info works against you and you get confused and overwhelmed. If that's how you feels then get this book and it will help you refocus so you can get back to other more in depth material. This book would also be very helpful if you don't have a lot of time to spend reading through more in depth material. It really gives you a nice overview, the maps are extremely helpful (we used them everyday for three weeks in Italy), the material is so well organized you can easily look things up, it's small size makes easy to carry around and the color photos are very nice.

Before I leave to another country, I usually read up on sights and history. Those are usually bulky books, but filled with good info. Just not very handy to take along. So, every time I travel I take a Top 10 with me. They are small enough for your bag or backpack, list the opening/closing times of sites, contain small maps, and give you an array of choices for shopping, eating or sightseeing in a particular area. I love the photos and the accompanying information.
