If you're thinking this is redundant with the big Spain book, yes there's a lot of the same content, but this one is SO much easier to carry around - sometimes you want to be a bit more surreptitious with your guide book - and means you don't have to rip up the other book. Also the color photographs are beautiful. We used this book nearly from cover to cover in Barcelona last month, making heavy use of the walking tours. Well worth it. I need one of these for a few other cities.

I have bought several of Rick's travel guides and I will admit that they are a very accurate glance at each city. However, this last trip guide left me shocked and very disappointed "with Rick." His restaurant choices were not very tasty or clean, and he left out one of the most exciting and beautiful places in Barcelona: Tibidabo mountain/amusement park! (He described it in one sentence! :( )Tibidabo had one of the most unbelievable views of the city, Monserrat and the surrounding areas --- you can literally see for miles. It was isolated and gorgeous. Be sure you take the elevator to the top of the church steeple for an even BETTER view!So yes, get this book if you want some insight to Barcelona and see all the cheap places and TONS OF GAUDI museums that Rick makes you go to....but also try someone else's guides to get more out of Barcelona. :)

We traveled to Barcelona for nine nights in September of 2017. Terrifically helpful, with ideas about where to stay, what to see, and where to eat. It's more oriented to the well-heeled traveler than to someone who is on a tight budget, especially when it comes to eating places. Fortunately, there are lots of local restaurants not on the list that were inexpensive with pretty good food. We couldn't always afford the top restaurants described. Basically went through hotels.com to find a hotel, since everything Rick Steves recommended was full up two months ahead of time. Expect any restaurant Rick recommends to be very crowded, since so many people pay attention to his recommendations. Not very many obscure places, and the minute Mr. Steves would recommend a place it would no longer be obscure and uncrowded. Great and helpful book, though. Hints throughout about how to avoid lines and crowds which were very useful.

For such a small guide book, this pocket manual has been a lifesaver. It is detailed enough to help me plan an entire itinerary. The guided walking tours seem fool-proof. Since it is so small, I can fit this book into my small cross-body purse for reference when I'm actually walking around the city. Highly, highly recommend any of his books and travel accessories.

Great resource. I read thru it before our trip and again while I was in Barcelona. The maps were very handy to have and his suggested walks were great. You could see a lot in a reasonably short walk. We really liked the walk on the Psg. de Gracia.

Awesome guide! Includes a pull-out map that is invaluable. The "walks" with where to go and what to see are perfect for the tourist. Sites are rated by must see, nice to see, and see if you have time. It has info on the Metro, getting advance tickets to attractions, best tapas places, everything! Perfect!

This little pocket guide was so valuable while traveling through Barcelona! I was able to tuck it into my purse and could have maps and information at my fingertips if needed. It wasn't too big or bulky, so you didn't "have to carry it" throughout the city. It does only have the "big" attractions in it, but that's OK. Saved us from spending money on one "tourist trap"!!

We took this book on our recent trip to Barcelona. It provided the perfect amount of information for the three days we visited the city, and was a wonderful guide through the amazing sights, particularly The Sagrada Familia and Park Guell.
